Red Hawks Dominate Regular Season Finale at La Sierra

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Shayla Smothers and Imani Joseph each scored career highs with 19 and 16 points, respectively, to lead Simpson to an impressive 75-56 victory at LaSierra on Saturday in the final game of the regular season. The Red Hawks stormed to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter and never trailed in the game.

The SU defense held the Golden Eagles to just 30 percent shooting on the night and 1-18 from behind the three-point line. Meanwhile, the Red Hawks were forcing 22 turnovers still managed a 31-19 lead at the half despite scoring just six points in the second quarter.

Fallon Greenhaw added 13 points and hit 3-6 from behind the arc.

With the win, the Red Hawks are in position to finish Cal-Pac play tied for second place with Cal Maritime. The Keelhaulers have earned the league's No. 2 seed and Simpson will face the tournament hosts on Sunday, February 28 at 4:00 p.m. in the semifinals. UC Merced has locked up the top seed and will face LaSierra in the opening round. If Merced defeats Maritime on Sunday in the regular season finale for both teams, the Red Hawks earn their highest finish in the conference in school history, second place.
