REDDING, Calif. - Eastern Oregon University beats the Red Hawks 74-61.
Eastern Oregon led for the majority of the night and Simpson never managed to get the lead. The Mountaineers exploded for a 25 point 3rd quarter that gave them a commanding lead for the remainder of the evening.
Senior guard,
Esther Wofford, had a game-high 28 points for Simpson, but also had seven turnovers.
Whitney Rodriguez finished 10 points and five rebounds off the bench in her first game back from injury. Â
Kelsie Jurin had a team-high four steals to go along with seven points.
Simpson were unable to stop EOU on the offensive glass, allowing 12 offensive rebounds. Â Eastern Oregon outrebounded the Red Hawks by nine, 36-27, for the game.
The Mountaineers drew 30 fouls on Simpson and went to the line 34 times, knocking down 29 of them.
Stormee Van Belle was the EOU's leading scorer, finishing with 18 points, 16 of which came from the stripe.
These two teams face each other once again tomorrow, October 30th at 12 pm in the Grant Center.
