Late Surge Pushes Jessup Past Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - William Jessup scored the game's final eight points and escaped the Heritage Center on Saturday with a 76-69 victory over the Simpson women's basketball team. SU took a 69-68 lead on a Kelsie Jurin layup with 2:16 to play, but the Red Hawks would not score again.

Fallon Greenhaw led four players in double figures with 18 points. Jurin added 17, and Emma Limburg 12. Whitney Rodriguez posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Simpson's leading scorer, Esther Wofford, struggled with five points hitting 2-15 from the field.

Simpson opened the game on fire running to a 26-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Warriors, however, slowly worked their way back into the game. Limburg's three-pointer as time expired gave SU a 36-34 lead at the intermission.

The Red Hawks travel to Oregon Tech on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. start.
