James Jansen is entering his 1^st season as an assistant to head coach Todd Franklin at Simpson University. His role also ecompasses the Head Men's JV coach as well as the recruiting coordinator.

He began his coaching career immediately after graduating from Sacramento State In 2013, where he obtained his BA in Economics. With stops at San Lorenzo Valley and Folsom High School, he has spent his last two previous seasons as an assistant coach for Troy Selvey at Ponderosa High School in Sacramento California compiling a record of 38-19 with 2 trips to the Sac-Joaquin Division II Playoffs. In that time, he also coached for Sacramento’s EBA Pharaohs Club where he worked with players from across the west coast and had a global outreach working with players from France, Nigeria, South Sudan, England and Australia.

A Northern California native, Jansen graduated from Liberty Christian High School in 2008 amassing a 109-24 record as a player before going on to play at Bethany University. He is currently completing his Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. James now lives in Redding with his Wife Ashlee and their 2 boys Jaylen and Jaxton.
