Biography

2024: Gomes appeared in 44 games with 42 starts coming in centerfield and designated hitter. Gomes followed his strong 2023 year with another solid year at the plate. He slashed .311 BA/.683 SLG%/.374 OB%/1.057 OPS as he collected a 1st Team All-Conference selection. He broke his record for the second consecutive year for the most home runs in a season with a program-best 16 long balls in 2024. Gomes also broke the program record for most RBIs in a season with 46. He ranked first in nearly every offensive category on the team in SLG% (.683), runs scored (39), RBIs (46), triples (2), home runs (16), and total bases (110). On the field, Gomes played the finest defense of his career as he notched a .982 FLD% while committing just one error to go along with 53 putouts and one assist. Gomes ends his career as the current winningest player in Simpson's history with 99 career wins, fifth in hits (152), third in runs (118), fifth in doubles (27), first in home runs (41), first in RBIs (137), and first in OPS (1.026) in program history. 

2023: Gomes appeared in 43 games with 41starts coming in left field and as a designated hitter. He had a big year at the plate as he slashed .344 BA/1.118 OPS/.694 SLG%/.424 OB%. He led the team in SLG%, home runs, total bases, RBI's, and was tied for first with 18 walks. He ranked second on the team in batting average, hits, runs scored, hit by pitches, at-bats, games played, and games started. Gomes set a career-high with 13 long balls on the year while also breaking Simpson's single-season and career home run record. Gomes was recognized for his offensive display with an All-Conference Honorable Mention nod. 

2022: Gomes appeared in eight games with six starts before missing th rest of the season due to injury. However, Gomes was off to a hot start as he homered in his first two at bats to begin the 2022 season against William Jessup. He ended the year slashing .364 BA/1.256 OPS/.773 SLG%/.483 OB%. 

2021: Gomes appeared in 27 games with 26 starts as the Red Hawks everyday third baseman. He slashed .281 BA/.958 OPS/.573 SLG%.385 OB%. He hit a career high eight home runs on the year for a team leading 29 RBI's. Gomes did most of his damage in conference as he posted a .985 OPS while hitting hit six out of his eight home runs during conference play. He was recognized for his power display with an All-Conference Honorable Mention nod. 

2020: In the COVID shortened season Gomes appeared in 17 games with 10 starts at second base, left field, and as a designated hitter. He slashed .294 BA/.870 OPS/.441 SLG%/.429 OB%. 

2019: Gomes appeared in 17 games with eight starts mostly coming as a designated hitter and one start behind the plate. He recorded his first collegiate hit against Providence Christian (3/8/2019) and hs first collegiate home run against La Sierra (3/29/2019). Gomes slashed .242 BA/.761 OPS/.455 SLG%/.306 OB% in his first year as a Red Hawk.
