JJ James is entering into his 4th year for the Simpson University Red Hawks. This is JJ’s fourth year being a Captain of the team.

Before College: James grew up in Elk Grove, California. He went to Elk Grove High School and played on the varsity volleyball team there for 3 years. James was part of the Nor-Cal state Champions team, as well as the Optimist all-star team and All-City team in 2019. James also played Club volleyball for two years at Legends Volleyball Club.

2020: James appeared in 11 matches and 36 total sets. He averaged 1.28 kills per set for a total of 46 kills and 0.50 blocks per set for a total of 18 blocks.

2021: James appeared in 13 matches and 42 total sets. He averaged 1.33 kills per set for a total of 56 kills and 0.88 blocks per set for a total of 37 blocks. James received 2nd team All-Conference honors as a middle blocker for the Cal Pac Conference.

2022: James appeared in 18 matches and 64 total sets. He averaged 1.47 kills per set for a total of 94 kills and 0.83 blocks per set for a total of 53 blocks. James received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors as a middle blocker for the Cal Pac Conference.
