OLYMPIA, Wash. - The women's soccer team concluded its road trip with a 1-1 tie with Evergreen State College to close out its preseason action today.
The Red Hawks and Geoducks held each other off the scoreboard for the entire first half as they combined for 15 shots, with Simpson outshooting the Geoducks 10-5.
Simpson broke through in the 73rd minute as
Maylania Mikaele scored outside of the 18-yard box to break the scoreless tie.
In the waning minutes, the Geoducks found the back of the net as a shot by Olivia DeVore banged off the crossbar, before Gabriela Paniagua cleaned up the deflection to score the equalizer.
Jenna Sosa earned her fourth tie of the year between the posts as she registered one save on the day. The Geoducks sent out two different keepers as Katie Gresham earned the tie by picking up four saves in the second half.
With the tie, the Red Hawks conclude their preseason play going 2-1-4 with victories coming against Corban and Oregon Tech. Simpson heads into a two-week bye period before starting conference play on October 2nd against Westcliff at 5 pm.
