EUGENE, Ore. - The women's volleyball team dropped its third straight game against a nationally ranked opponent tonight as they fell in four sets against No.19 Bushnell, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, and 25-23.
The Red Hawks created separation as they went on a 6-1 run to take the 16-11 lead.
Tiara Manns notched a pair of kills while
Emma Laurel notched an ace. The Beacons battled back as they pulled within one, but Simpson scored three straight points to take the 23-19 lead on kills by
Mariah Napoleon and
Kimora McKechnie before taking the first set victory on a Beacons service error.
A kill by Manns gave the Red Hawks the 15-14 lead in the second set, but the Beacons went on a key 8-1 run to take the 22-16 lead with there front row generating three blocks. Simpson rallied for three late points before a service error derailed the come back efforts as the Beacons took the second set 25-21.
Bushnell jumped out to the early 12-4 lead as the Red Hawks played from behind for the rest of the set. Once again, the Red Hawks reeled off three late points on back-to-back kills by Manns and Napoleon before a service error halted the comeback efforts as the Beacons took the second set 25-21.
A back-and-forth fourth set saw the Red Hawks take the late lead on three straight points on a pair of kills by Manns. But the Beacons answered with three straight points on a pair of aces to take the set 25-23 to take the match.
Tiara Manns had a huge game as she posted a season-high 19 kills to go along with a .341 hitting percentage.
Mariah Napoleon followed close behind as she added 15 kills to go along with 11 digs.
Kimora McKechnie had a huge game up front as she posted nine total blocks, two solo and seven block assists, to go along with three kills.
Ella Perry and
Brooke Sarahina combined for 44 assists and 25 digs.
Brooklyn Jimenez led the defense with 20 digs to go along with two service aces.
The Red Hawks are back in action tomorrow as they take on Oregon Tech at 2 pm before returning home.
