KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The men's soccer team kicked off the 2026 season on the road as they took on Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, OR.
The Hustlin' Owls scored a pair of goals in the first half as they drew first blood in the 12th minute, as Yahir Ramos found the back of the net.
OIT scored once more before the first half ended on a goal by Layne Worrell to take the 2-0 lead.
Both teams had a quiet first half on offense as they combined for five shots, as OIT outshot Simpson 4-1 in the first half. Howver, the difference proved to be shots of the foot from Ramos and Worrell.
The Owls' defense kept the Red Hawks' offense in check as they did not allow a single shot in the second half, adding a late insurance goal in the 85th minute by Andrew George to ice away the game.
Oregon Tech held control for much of the game as they outshot Simpson 12-1 with seven shots on goal.
Jesus Montoya took the loss in the post as he posted three saves.
Two yellow cards were issued as
Ariel Perez-Aviles and
David Clavijo each picked up a card in the 60th minute.
Simpson looks to bounce back as they host Southern Oregon on Saturday at 6 pm at the California Soccer Park.
