REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks Flag Football team wrapped up its two-game home stand today as they fell to Hope International 26-12.
The Red Hawks and Royals remained in a defensive battle as they held each other scoreless through the first quarter of play.
The Royals broke through in the second quarter as they found the endzone three times. But the Red Hawks answered back as they found the end zone on a 66-yard pitch and catch from
Sophia Wright to
Imani Watkins to get Simpson on the board as they trailed 19-6 going into halftime.
Both teams found the endzone in the fourth quarter as Wright connected with
Taylor Zalunardo late in the fourth quarter, but they could not overcome the deficit as they fell 26-12.
Quarterback
Sophia Wright passed for 198 yards through the air as she registered two touchdown passes and one interception.
Imani Watkins led the team with 105 receiving yards as she hauled in four passes to go along with a 66-yard strike from Wright.
Taylor Zalunardo led the defense with 12 stops while
Kylie Schultz picked up an interception. Watkins made her presence felt in the secondary and picked up three pass breakups.
The Red Hawks hit the road to Arizona to take on Ottawa (AZ) on April 8th at noon (MST).
