Simpson rallies in game one to earn a split on the day

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks rallied late in game one to take the first game of the day 12-11 before falling in the series finale 9-5 to drop the three-game set against Westcliff. 

The Red Hawks drew first blood on an RBI double by Cayden Lee in the first inning before extending their lead to 5-1 in the fourth on a solo blast by Bo Valladao and a two-run single by Duke Aloy

But the Warriors answered with a seven-run bottom half of the inning to take the 8-5 lead, highlighted by RBI triples by AJ Quezeda and Landon Raskin.

Westcliff extended their lead with a three-run sixth inning on a two-run single by Martin Sanchez to take the 11-5 lead.

Simpson roared back in the top of the ninth inning as they plated seven runs on eight hits. Justin Lucas came through with a pinch-hit two-run single, followed by a two-run double by Duke Aloy

Lee provided the game-changing swing as he stroked a three-run home run to give Simpson the 12-11 lead. Red Hawks closer Chandler Jones nailed down the bottom of the ninth inning as he retired the Warriors in order to seal the come-from-behind 12-11 victory. 

Aloy and Lee powered the Simpson bats as they each posted three-hit games, as they combined for eight RBIs. JJ Torrente and Valladao followed close behind with three-hit performances. 

Brady Glenn picked up the win on the mound as he tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief before Chandler Jones nailed down his fourth save of the year. 

Game 2: 

Lee continued to stay hot as he picked up a two-run single in the third inning to break the scoreless tie. 

The Warriors busted the game open in the fourth inning as they hung a nine-spot on the board on seven hits. Four extra base hits highlighted the inning as Patrick Morgan stroked a two-run home run while Alex Chacon, Quezada, and Raskin posted RBI extra base knocks. 

The Red Hawks' last gasp came in the top of the seventh inning as they plated three runs on a two-run double by Valladao and an RBI single by Lucas before falling to the Warriors 9-5. 

Cesar Ortega, Torrente, and Valldao led the Simpson offense with two-hit performances. Valladao took the loss as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up six runs. 

The Red Hawks are back in action on Thursday as they take on the University of Nevada, Reno at 3:05 pm.
