Simpson takes down Stanton 78-68 on Senior Night

REDDING, Calif. - The men's basketball team honored four seniors as they closed out its home finale against Stanton tonight.

Seniors Aidan Rolfs, Albin Atovich, Drew Nelson, and Nian Allen played their last home game in the James M. Grant Center as they celebrated with family, friends, and teammates.

Back-to-back buckets by Nian Allen and Timothy Parker gave Simpson the early lead to begin the game.

Holding onto a three-point lead, the Red Hawks scored eight straight points to gain the 11-point advantage on a three-pointer by Allen, a pair of free throws from Jack Jillson, and a three-point play by Parker.

Parker had a big first half as he posted a team-high 12 points while Allen followed close behind with 11 points to help Simpson retain the 40-31 lead at halftime.

The Red Hawks extended their lead to a game-high 16 points as Dylan Harms converted two free throws, followed by a layup by Parker.

But the Elks came storming back as they pulled within one point on a 23-8 run with less than eight minutes left in the second half.

However, 12 straight points by the Red Hawks created enough cushion for Simpson to close out the 78-68 victory as Harms anchored the rally with three layups.

Parker led the Simpson offense with 25 points to go along with five rebounds while shooting 7-13 from the floor.

Allen and Harms rounded out the double-digit performances as they combined for 34 points and eight rebounds.

Simpson closes out the regular season on Saturday as they take on Cal Maritime at 7:30 pm.
