GLENDALE, Ariz. - Simpson beach squad fell today against Vanguard University and Ottawa University. 

The Lions proved too much for the Red Hawks as they completed the five-set sweep over Simpson, as they did not drop a single set throughout the dual. 

Simpson's third match fell short as Elizabeth Heath and Mackenzie Tataryn fell against Vanguards Avery Bennett and Hayden Johnston 21-15 and 21-17. 

However, just four matches were played as Simpson forfeited its fourth match due to illness, and the Lions earned the 5-0 shutout over the Red Hawks.

5. Jadyn Starling/Gianna Pecile (VU) def. Kiersti Howell/Alexia Andaya (SU) 21-19, 21-10 

Game 2: 

Simpson dropped the final game of its Arizona road trip this afternoon as they fell to #1 in the nation, Ottawa University (AZ), in straight matches. 

Elizabeth Heath and Mackenzie Tataryn narrowly fell in the first set of the third match by the score 21-19 before being taken down 21-6 in the second set by Ottawa's Olga Romero and Marielle Ramos. 

Ottawa proved why they are the top team in the nation as they held the Red Hawks under double-digit points in five out of the 10 sets played to complete the five-game sweep. 

Simpson returns to action as they travel to Ashland, OR, to take on the University of Portland to conclude its preseason play before beginning Cascade Conference play against Southern Oregon on February 27th and 28th.
