Garcia Virgen scores twice to propel the Red Hawks over PUC

ANGWIN, Calif. - Jonathan Garcia Virgen and Gonzalo Luna helped propel the Red Hawks over the Pioneers 3-1 today, combining for all three goals.

Garcia Virgen broke a scoreless deadlock late in the first half, converting on a penalty kick after a foul by the Pioneers in the box.

The Pioneers answered in the second half when Sam Bronson scored the equalizer in the 58th minute.

However, Garcia Virgen played the hero just minutes later, securing a brace in the 61st minute with his second penalty-kick goal of the day.

The Red Hawks added a late insurance goal in the 86th minute off the foot of Gonzalo Luna to put the game on ice.

Simpson maintained a steady offensive attack all afternoon, outshooting the Pioneers 25-6. Julian Mejia picked up the win between the posts, recording one save to move to 2-4-1 on the year.

The Red Hawks are back in action this Friday in Southern California, taking on Stanton University at 4:30 p.m.
