REDDING, Calif. - The men's basketball team looked to even the season series and avenge its loss earlier in the season against Lincoln University tonight in the James M. Grant Center.
The Oaklanders started with six straight points on back-to-back three pointers before
Preston Kilbert fed
Timothy Parker for a momentum-changing dunk to get Simpson on the board.
Simpson went on to score ten straight points following a dunk by Parker to take the 12-6 lead as Parker accounted for eight out of the team's 10 points during the run.
The Red Hawks continued to stretch their lead as they held total control for the rest of the first half, as they went on another six-point run to go up 18-9 with Dyaln Harms registering a layup and Parker continuing his monster game with four points, including his second dunk of the game.
Back-to-back layups by
Nian Allen and Parker extended Simpson's largest lead of the first half to 20 points as they held the commanding 41-21 lead with just over five minutes left in the first half.
Aidan Rolfs and
Kellen Torrey each connected from beyond the arc while Parker converted on one final basket before the half to give Simpson the 55-36 lead going into the half.
Simpson continued to roll as they began the second half with three straight three-pointers by Rolfs and Harms to go up 23 points, 64-21.
In a night full of dunks, Allen took the cake with a monster windmill dunk to help Simpson retain its commanding 22-point lead midway through the second half.
The Red Hawks cruised to the dominant 109-86 midweek victory to even the season series with Lincoln, as every Red Hawk who registered minutes on the court notched points.
Parker led the Red Hawks with a team-high 25 points, which included four dunks.
Rolfs posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists.
Harms and Allen each posted a double-digit performance as they combined for 29 points.
Jack Jillson and Torrey played a key role off the bench as Torrey posted 13 points while shooting 4-6 from the floor and 3-4 from beyond the arc. Jillson posted a well-rounded game as he notched seven points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Simpson looks to stay hot as they take on UC Santa Cruz Saturday at 7 pm in the James M. Grant Center.
