ROCKLIN, Calif. - The men's soccer team narrowly fell today to DII opponent Jessup University, 1-0.
The Warriors tested goalkeeper
Jacopo Trolese early as they fired their first shot on goal in the opening minute of the game, as Trolese picked up his first save of the day.
However, Jessup drew first blood in the 27th minute as Trolese picked up another save, but off the deflection, the Jessup attacker found the back of the net.
Simpson took two out of its three shots in the first half in the final minutes of the first half, but they could not find the back of the net.
The Red Hawks and Warriors battled in the second half as the Warriors put up 11 shots, but Trolese prevailed as he posted three saves in the second half.
The Warriors' defense contained the Simpson attackers in the second half as they posted two shots but could not push through the equalizer.
Trolese notched five saves in the post while
David Perez picked up the only shot on goal for Simpson.
A total of two cards and one to each team had been handed out, while a total of 25 fouls were committed between the two teams.
Simpson hits the road on Tuesday as they take on Lincoln University at noon.
