REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team took down Pacific Union College tonight in straight sets to begin conference play in its 2025 home opener. 

Back-to-back kills to open the game by Elizabeth Heath and Mariah Napoleon gave Simpson the early lead. 

With the score tied at eight, Simpson outscored the Pioneers 10-2 as Brooke Sarahina posted two kills while Tiara Manns, Abigail Shackelford, and Napoleon picked up two kills each. 

The trio of Shackelford, Manns, and Heath ended the game on three-straight kills to take the 25-16 first set victory. 

The Pioneers jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in set two before the Red Hawks tied the game at six on a kill by Napoleon. 

Tied at 10, the Red Hawks pulled away on four straight points as Manns registered three kills and Brooklyn Jimenez picked up an ace. 

Simpson never looked back as they took the second set 25-19 on a kill by Manns. 

The Red Hawks looked to take the match in straight sets as they went up 3-0 to begin the third set and never relinquished the lead. 

Sarahina capped on a perfect night for Simpson as she notched her third ace of the game to end the match, 25-17. 

Napoleon and Manns anchored the Simpson hitters as they combined for 26 kills while hitting .295 for the game. 

Sarahina played a key role as she notched 35 assists to go along with three aces and a kill. 

Jimenez led the defense with 24 digs to go along with two aces. 

Kiersti Howell had a solid game as she notched seven kills and one block to go along with a .313 hitting percentage. 

With the win, Simpson extends its win streak to three games as they have won four out of the last six games. 

The Red Hawks look to keep it rolling as they head to PUC on Saturday to take on the Pioneers in Angwin, CA.
