SURPRISE, Ariz. - The women's volleyball team wrapped up play in Arizona today as they fell to Embry-Riddle in straight sets.
Simpson got on the board from a kill by
Kiersti Howell as they took their first lead of the game on three straight points from a kill by
Elizabeth Heath to take the 6-5 lead.
Facing a three-point deficit, the Red Hawks scored four unanswered points as they went on a 5-1 run to take the 18-17 lead.
Heath and
Kare Ann Oshiro picked up kills while
Michelle Sams notched an ace.
Simpson held the 20-19 lead before the Eagles went on a clinching 6-2 run to take the 25-22 first set victory.
An ace by
Brooke Sarahina got Simpson on the board in set two, followed by a kill by Heath helped Simpson grab the early 3-0 lead.
The Eagles held the 20-19 lead as the Red Hawks pulled within one on a kill by
Tiara Manns.
Simpson and the Eagles played a tightly contested second set as the Eagles narrowly edged the Red Hawks 25-23 to take the 2-0 match lead.
Embry-Riddle completed the straight set victory as they took the game 25-19.
Heath led the team with 10 kills, Jimenez led the team with nine digs, and
Mackenzie Tataryn and Sarahina each posted a team-high 13 assists.
Simpson has a two-week bye as they are back in action Sept. 19th as they hit the road to take on Cal Tech.
