MERCED, Calif. - The annual California Pacific Conference banquet took place earlier tonight and highlighted some of the finest men's volleyball players from this season.
The Red Hawks had six players hear their names called to claim a Cal Pac accolade.
Among those six, freshman
Micah Nakasato highlighted the group as he took home Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors in his first season as a Red Hawk.
Nakasato had a stellar freshman year as he ranked first on the team in sets played (79), assists (615), and aces (21) while ranking second in digs (136).
He becomes the first player in program history to win the Cal Pac Freshman of the Year award.
Sophomore,
Akira Davies had a breakout sophomore campaign as he earned a spot on the All-Conference First-Team.
Davies led the team in kills (174), second in aces (20), third in digs (96), and fourth in blocks (17.0).
Sophomore
Jacob Shelton and senior
Nathan Richards earned a spot on the All-Conference Second-Team.
Shelton led the team with 51.0 blocks while Richards ranked third with 113 kills.
Freshman,
Francis Gates rounded out the All-Conference awards as he picked up an honorable mention nod as he ranked second on the team in kills (125) and blocks (32.0).
Senior
Quinn Wright earned the Cal Pac Champions of Character award for his professional display on the court and Richards earned a spot on the All-Academic team for his hard work in the classroom.
