Simpson splits the series against Westcliff

REDDING, Calif. - The baseball team concluded its four-game series against Westcliff today as they came into the day with a 2-0 series advantage.

The Warriors jumped on the board first in the second inning to take the early 1-0 lead.

However, the Warriors took the commanding 9-0 lead after seven innings of play as they scored in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

The Red Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning as they plated two runs on an RBI double by Dominic Folks and a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Aden Munoz

But that is all the runs the Simpson offense could muster in game one as they fell 9-2.

Even with the loss, Simpson secured the conference series win as the first three games are conference with the fourth game being a nonconference 7-inning game.

The Simpson offense strung together four hits on the game with Folks providing a two-hit performance with an RBI double.

The Warriors jumped out to the early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game two as they capitalized on two Simpson errors.

Simpson answered back in the bottom half of the inning as they plated one run as a lead-off single by Isaiah Alcala came around to score on an RBI groundout by Folks.

The Warrior bats caught fire as they scored runs over the final four innings of the game to take the second game 9-2 to earn a split on the series as Brock Gilligan led the Simpson bats with a two-hit game.

Simpson looks to hit the road this upcoming week as they take on La Sierra on Thursday at 11 am and 2 pm to kick off a four-game series.
