Red Hawks offense explodes in game three as they take the series against the Sea Beggars

PASADENA, Calif. - The Simpson baseball team split today as they dropped the first game 6-3 before taking the rubber match in run-rule fashion, 15-1 to take the conference series. 

The Sea Beggars drew first blood in game one as they plated two runs off four hits in the second inning to grab the early lead. 

The Red Hawks chipped away as they plated a run in the third and fourth innings to cut the lead in half. 

Simpson got on the board in the third inning as a one-out single by Dylan Leek came around to score on a RBI single by Cayden Lee followed by an RBI single by Brayden Swenson in the fourth inning. 

However, the Sea Beggars plated four runs over the next two innings to take the 6-3 lead as the Sea Beggars pitching staff posted three scoreless innings to close out the first-game victory. 

Dominic Folks posted a team-high three hits followed by two-hit performances by Andreyes Palacios and Leek. 

Game 2: 

The Red Hawks looked to take the rubber match game behind starter Qorey Houston as the Simpson bats exploded for 15 runs off 17 hits. 

Simpson jumped out to the early 3-0 lead in the first inning as Joel Calderin stroked a three-run blast for his third long ball of the year. 

The Red Hawks added one more in the third inning before exploding for 10 runs over the next two innings. 

Mario Catalan picked up a two-run single followed by an RBI groundout by Calderin and a RBI double by Folks in the fourth inning. 

They kept it rolling in the fifth as they notched seven hits as Leek and Lee picked up RBI singles while Catalan and Christie picked up RBI doubles followed by a two-run double by Chase Rossman

Simpson held the commanding 15-1 lead as Houston kept the Sea Beggars' offense in check. He picked up the win as he fired 5.0 innings of scoreless baseball.

Brendan Moore and Chandler Jones combined to fire the final 2.0 innings of one-run baseball by nailing down the 15-1 game in run-rule fashion.

The Red Hawks posted six players with a multi-hit game. Catalan and Lee led the team with a three-hit performance as they combined for five RBIs. 

Keelan Yagi, Calderin, and Folks each posted a two-hit game as Calderin notched four RBIs highlighted by a three-run shot in the first inning. 

With the split and series win, the Red Hawks are in first place and hold a 0.5-game lead in the Cal Pac standings over Westcliff. 

The Red Hawks are back in action on Friday at 11 am as they open a four-game series against the Golden Eagles.
