The Red Hawks take down the Warriors in straight sets

IRVINE, Calif. - The women's volleyball squad continues to stay hot as they defeated the Westcliff Warriors in straight sets tonight: 25-19, 25-23, and 25-23.

The Warriors rallied as they took the one-point lead, 9-8, before the Red Hawks scored four straight points on kills by Elizabeth Heath, Kiersti Howell, and Napoleon, capped off by an ace by Kare Ann Oshiro

Simpson clung to the three-point advantage and never relinquished the lead as they took the first set 25-19.

A back-and-forth second set saw eight lead changes between the Red Hawks and Warriors.

Simpson clung to a one-point lead before back-to-back kills by Heath and Howell put the Red Hawks in the driver's seat.

The Warriors rallied for two straight points to pull within two before Manns closed out the second set victory with the clinching kill.

Westcliff came out sharp in the third set as they took the early 10-6 lead. But the Red Hawks chipped away and tied the game at 12 on back-to-back kills by Manns.

With the score knotted up at 19, Simpson created separation with three straight points as Oshiro and Manns anchored the streak with a kill and block assist by Manns and two total blocks for Oshiro.

Napoleon owned the final two swings of the night for Simpson as she notched her 13th kill of the night to put Simpson into match point territory, while her team-leading 14th kill of the night helped Simpson seal the straight set victory.
