Simpson stumbles against No.12 Carroll College

HELENA, Mont. - The Red Hawks football squad fell this afternoon against No.12 Carroll College 44-0.

The Simpson defense made a huge fourth-down stop on the Fighting Saints' opening possession of the game.

Defensive Tackle Irshad Lagarde made a huge tackle on third and short to stuff the Saints' tailback to force a fourth and one.

The Fighting Saints kept the offense on the field as Felix Santiago came up with a huge tackle for loss to stall the Saints' drive deep in Red Hawks territory.

However, the Saints drew first blood as they found the end zone and jumped out to a 7-0 lead following a good extra point.

The Red Hawks looked to answer back with a methodical drive that ended on the fringes of a red zone appearance. But the Saints' special teams forced a missed field goal wide to the right.

Carrroll went on to score 10 more points in the second quarter to take the 17-0 lead into the half.

Simpson looked to get on the board in the fourth quarter as they drove 62 yards in 10 plays to move deep into Saints territory before the Saints' special teams forced its second missed field goal of the game to keep Simpson off the scoreboard.

The Saints' offense exploded in the second half as they scored 27 points to close out the 44-0 victory.

Joshua De La Cruz Jr. led the defense with six total tackles, while Keola Seumanutafa-Bryant recorded his first sack of the season to go along with three total tackles.

The Red Hawks return home this coming weekend as they take on Montana Western in its homecoming game at 1 pm on Saturday.
