REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team continued to roll as they took down the Pioneers in straight sets to clinch the Cal Pac season title tonight.
The Red Hawks drew first blood on a Pioneers error and a kill by
Tiara Manns.
Simpson held the commanding 14-7 lead as they scored five straight points on a kill by
Kare Ann Oshiro, three straight service aces by
Brooke Sarahina, and a block by
Abigail Shackelford and
Elizabeth Heath.
The Red Hawks closed out the first set victory on five straight points on kills by
Mariah Napoleon, Shackelford, and Heath.
But the momentum continued in the second set as they jumped out to the early 5-0 lead as Napoleon posted two kills and a kill by Heath and Shackelford.
A 9-2 run gave Simpson the commanding 14-5 lead as Napoleon posted three kills,
Mackenzie Tataryn notched two aces, and Oshiro recorded two kills.
Kiersti Howell closed out the second set with a solo block to give Simpson the 25-16 second set victory.
Simpson looked to close out the straight set victory as they took the early 5-1 lead on a pair of kills by Napoleon and Heath.
They never relinquished the lead as Napoleon slammed down the game-clinching kill.
Napoleon had quite the game as she posted a team-high 13 kills to go along with two blocks.
Brooke Sarahina led the team with three aces and 24 assists, while
Brooklyn Jimenez led the defense with 20 digs.
With the win, Simpson extended its win streak to 11 games as it earned the Cal Pac regular season title.
The Red Hawks close out the week as they head down to Atherton, CA, to take on Menlo College this Saturday at 7 pm.
