IRVINE, Calif. - Simpson knew they would have it tough against the 11-1-1 (RV) Westcliff Warriors. A 5-0 loss showed the Warriors are a tough team to play at home as they remain unbeaten.
Iris van Dalfsen returned in the posts as she notched three saves on eight shots faced.
Simpson had just two shots during the game, as Westcliff proved too strong, with a total of 21 shots.
An early goal by Westcliff in the 5th minute put Simpson under pressure early in the game. After playing themselves into the game, tragedy struck as Westcliff put another past them in the 35th minute to take a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
No halftime pep talk could have prepared the Red Hawks for Westcliff's blistering play, as the Warriors scored goals in the 61st, 74th, and 80th minutes, announcing themselves as one of the top teams in the nation as they are receiving votes in the latest coaches poll rankings.
Simpson moves to 3-4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play as the Warriors gave the Red Hawks their first blemish in conference play.
They travel to Garden Grove, California, next, as they take on the Stanton University Elks.
