REDDING, Calif. - The men's basketball squad picked up action in a nonconference matchup tonight against Nelson University, AZ.
This is the second time this season the Red Hawks are taking on the Warriors as they looked to avenge its loss from earlier this season.
Drey Ubas began his big night by putting Simpson on the board with a three-pointer.
Ubas could not miss as the senior shooting guard nailed three-straight three-pointers to extend Simpson's lead to 11 as they took the 14-3 lead by scoring 14 unanswered points.
The Simpson offense continued to click as they extended its lead to 22 points as Ubas nailed two more three-pointers,
Osumanu Nuhu and
Jace Mills registered buckets in the paint,
DaMari Tate hit from beyond the arc, and
Timothy Parker notched two buckets including a dunk to take the 34-12 lead.
The Red Hawks grew its largest lead of the first half to 24 points on a layup from Parker and Mills to make it a 50-24 game.
Ubas closed out the half where he left off as he drilled a corner three-pointer as time expired to give Simpson the 58-38 advantage.

Simpson dominated every aspect of the first half as they gained more second-chance points, points of turnovers, bench points, and points in the paint as they never relinquished the lead.
Ubas had a blistering first half as he scored a team-high 24 points. He drilled seven three-pointers as he started the game going 6-6 from beyond the arc.
But the Warriors chipped away as they looked to stay in the ballgame. However, the Red Hawks offense could not be stopped as they answered back by matching the Warriors bucket for bucket.
The Warriors pulled within six with three and a half minutes left before the Red Hawks answered back on a huge three-pointer by
Kellen Torrey.
Simpson fended off the Warriors late surge as they took the 98-90 victory to take the midweek matchup and avenge its loss from earlier this season.
Ubas had a career night as he could not miss. He posted a season-high 32 points as he shot 9-11 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-5 from the line.
Parker had himself a night as well by scoring 24 points to go along with a team-high eight assists while shooting 10-15 from the floor on some hard-fought baskets.
Simpson has played well of late as they look to surge at the right time to push for a Cal Pac playoff spot.
The Red Hawks look to carry the momentum into this weekend's key conference matchups against La Sierra on Thursday at 7:30 pm and Saturday against Westcliff at 7:30 pm.
