PHOENIX, Ariz. - The men's basketball team continued its Arizona road trip today as they took on Nelson University of Arizona.
The men's team is coming off a win last night against Justice College 73-71.
Derek Gorden put the first points on the board for the Red Hawks in their second possession followed by a three-pointer by
Drey Ubas to give Simpson the early lead.
The Warriors held a 12-point lead midway through the first half before the Red Hawks began to chip away.
Three straight three-pointers by
Trey Conrad,
Jack Jillson, and
DaMari Tate pulled the Red Hawks within five as they faced a 27-22 deficit.
However, the Warriors extended its lead to 15 points to end the first half with a 51-36 lead.
Nelson kept the momentum going in the second half as they held off the Red Hawk's comeback to take the game 104-73.
Timothy Parker had a team-high 16 points to go along with three assists.
DaMari Tate followed Parker as he had 12 points with a team-high six rebounds.
With the loss, the Red Hawks concludes its preseason play going 7-8 as they head into conference play on the road against Pacific Union on January 16th.
