REDDING, Calif. - The girls began day two with its senior ceremonies that recognized five Red Hawks;
Amy LeGrande,
Kylee Potes,
Marissa Ramirez,
Cailey Rizzardo, and
Kimberlee Walston.
The Warriors struck first in the first inning as a bases-loaded walk pushed across the first run of the game.Â
But Potes limited the damage as she induced a fly out and a ground out to get out of the jam.Â
Simpson answered back in the bottom half of the inning as a lead-off single by LeGrande and a walk to
Ariel Schulzkump put early runners aboard.Â
A clutch two-out two-strike RBI single by
Madyson Welch tied the game 1-1.Â
The Red Hawks took the lead in the home half of the third inning on Westcliff errors. Three straight Warrior errors with two outs pushed across
Marissa Ramirez and
Kayley Vaillette to grab the 3-1 lead.Â
Westcliff scratched one run across in the top of the third inning on a RBI infield single to make it a 3-2 game.Â
A two-out screaming double in the left-center gap by
Cailey Rizzardo pushed across two more runs to make it a 5-2 game.
But the Red Hawks padded two more in the following inning as they stole home a run on a first and third situation and an RBI single by LeGrande to extend its 7-2 lead.Â
Another Westcliff error helped aid the Red Hawk's eighth run of the game in the fifth inning.Â
Potes went on to fire the complete game victory as she allowed just two runs and struck out four batters to pick her second win in as many days.Â
Cailey Rizzardo led the way in game one as she picked up a three-hit performance with a double and two RBIs.Â
Amy LeGrande and
Madyson Welch followed close behind with a two-hit game.Â
Game 2:
Simpson looked to win the series behind sophomore starter
Jessica Ulshoeffer.Â
The Red Hawks grabbed the early lead in the opening frame as a lead-off double by
Amy LeGrande came around to score on a Warrior error to grab the early 1-0 lead.Â
But the Warriors plated five runs in the top of the third inning on five hits and one Red Hawk error to take the 5-1 lead.Â
Simpson chipped away in the bottom of the fifth inning as back-to-back walks to begin the inning came around to score on a huge two-out single by
Madyson Welch.Â
A huge defensive play by the Simpson defense kept the score 5-3.Â

Jessica Heck cut down the sixth run of the game for Westcliff.Â
But the Red Hawks could not get the bats going as they went down in order in the final two innings.Â
Madyson Welch had another big game as she led the Red Hawk bats with two hits and two RBIs in the game.Â
Simpson looks to keep it rolling as they head down to Arizona to take on Embry-Riddle and Benedictine this week.Â
