REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team continues to stay hot as they have now won three straight games and nine straight sets as they took down Westcliff University tonight.
Simpson jumped out to the early 6-2 lead as
Mariah Napoleon picked up a solo block and a kill while
Tiara Manns and
Katie Graham each notched an ace.
Simpson held a four-point lead before going on a 10-1 run to take the commanding 21-8 lead.
Graham picked up two kills and two aces, Napoleon picked up another two kills, and
Abigail Shackelford recorded one kill.
Mallory Swenson recorded the set one clinching kill to give Simpson the 1-0 match lead on a 25-15 set one victory.
The Warriors jumped out to the early 3-0 lead before a kill by Swenson put Simpson on the board in the second half.
Westcliff prevailed and held the early 8-3 lead before Simpson went on an 8-1 run to take its first lead of the game, 11-9.
Swenson posted two kills while Manns, Napoleon, and
Dani Rydjord each notched a kill.
With the score tied, the Red Hawks created some breathing room as they scored four unanswered points to take the 19-15 lead.


The Warriors pulled within one 22-21 before Simpson closed out the second set on a 3-1 run to take the 2-0 match lead.
Simpson looked for its third straight victory as
Tiara Manns recorded two straight kills to open the third set.
The Red Hawks held total control as they never looked back and took the third set dominantly, 25-13.
Mallory Swenson had a tremendous night as she slammed down 13 kills to go along with a stellar .684 hitting percentage.
Abigail Shackelford and
Mackenzie Tataryn combined for 28 assists to go along with 14 digs.
Madison Kammuller had a big night on defense as she notched 23 digs and one ace.
With the win, Simpson is on a tear and has won three straight games to keep pace with first-place UC Merced. Simpson remains two games behind the Bobcats for the top spot in the Cal Pac standings.
Simpson looks to finish its homestand tomorrow night against La Sierra at 8:30 pm.
