PALO CEDRO, Calif. - The women's soccer squad clinched its playoff ticket today in its season finale as they took down Pacific Union College 3-0.
Coming into the day the Red Hawks needed at least a tie with the Pioneers to earn its fourth Cal Pac playoff appearance in the last five years.Â
Simpson looked to take care of business early as they drew first blood in the opening minutes as Listy Munoz picked up her fourth goal of the year on a pass from Iris Van Dalfsen.Â
The Pioneers reeled off five shots in the first half but senior goalkeeper
Kiah Gridley notched two saves to keep the clean sheet intact.Â
But the Red Hawks added an insurance goal right before the half as
Claire Brown found the back of the net for the third time this year on Dalfsen's second assist of the game.Â

The Simpson defense suffocated the Pioneer attackers in the second half as they did not record a shot.Â
The Red Hawkls padded its lead one more time as
Grace Nelson found the back of the net with the last minutes winding down on a pass by
Chloe Tague.Â
With the win, Simpson earned the fourth and final playoff spot on the final day of the season. This is the fourth time in the last five years that the women's squad has qualified for the Cal Pac tournament as they finished this season 3-2-2 in conference play.Â
The Red Hawks look to take on #1 seed UC Merced this Thursday at 4:30 pm in Aliso Viejo, CA in the first round.Â
This is the second time this season the Red Hawks and Bobcats will clash as they just took on the Bobcats earlier this week but fell in a tight 2-0 game.Â
If they win they will take on the winner of the Westcliff and Soka game.Â
