MESA, Ariz. - The women's soccer team dropped its first conference match of the year against Benedictine-Mesa this evening by the score of 2-1.
All of the scoring between the Red Hawks came in the first half of play.
Ben U drew first blood in the 3rd minute of play.
But Simpson answered right back when
Chloe Tague scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 5th minute to tie the game at one.
The score remained tied for much of the first half until Ben U jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute.
The second half was a stalemate as both teams were unable to find the back of the net.
Both teams combined for a total of four shots in the second half as both defenses suffocated each other's attackers.
Simpson will return home from its Arizona road trip with a split between Park Gilbert and Ben U.
Even with the loss the Red Hawks are in good shape as they remain tied for second with UC Merced and half a game back from Embry-Riddle.
Simpson will return home for a big game against first-place Embry-Riddle this Saturday at 12 PM.
