SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Red Hawks were unable to slow down the undefeated Firebirds as they fell 3-1.
The surging Red Hawks went into today's contest winners of seven of the last eight contests.
Saint Katherine set the tone early as they took set one by the score of 25-12.
But the Red Hawks bounced back and won set two by the score of 25-21 in a tightly contested match.
However, the Firebirds proved why they are top of the Cal Pac standings up until this point as they took sets three and four.
Junior middle
Katie Graham had a big day as she recorded a team-high 12 kills and two total blocks to go along with an astounding .525 hitting percentage.
Following close behind was
Mallory Swenson with 11 kills and
Tiana Nihipali with eight kills.
Senior
Kayla Somontan had another quality game as she registered 36 assists, one service ace, and a team-leading 11 digs.
Simpson will have a big matchup this Friday as they hit the road to take on UC Merced who is in sole possession of second place in the Cal Pac standings.
