RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Simpson U men's basketball picked up another crucial road conference win on Saturday night over La Sierra, 64-53.
Javonntie Jackson led SU on the evening with 14 points and also added nine rebounds.
Daylon Potts recorded another double-double grabbing 11 boards along with 13 points.
Drey Ubas and
Akin Branco both finished in double figures, with 13 and 12, respectively.
Currently, SU sits in 6th place in the Cal Pac, which is the final playoff spot, but its destiny comes down to the final week of the conference season.
With the win, the Red Hawks inch closer to another playoff berth waiting on the final week of results. Simpson can clinch the final playoff spot in the Cal Pac with a win over Merced Saturday night or a BenU, Embry-Riddle loss this week.
BenU and Embry-Riddle play twice this week against Westcliff and Saint Katherine, the 2nd and 4th place teams in the conference.
Simpson is currently a half-game up on BenU, but holds the tiebreaker and a game and a half on Embry-Riddle.
The final of the conference season will be interesting for the Red Hawks as they will watch Thursday night's conference action closely to see where they stand heading into the final conference game of the season.
SU will play in the conference finale on Saturday against UC Merced at 7:30 PM.
