MESA, Ariz. - The women's soccer team opened the first round of play on the road at Mesa to take on Benedictine University last night.
The Redhawks from Mesa would best Simpson 4-1 in the opening game of the first round to move on to the semifinal match next week.
Simpson got on the board first in the 8th minute when
Yisel Ybarra scored what would be Simpson's lone goal.
Ben U answered back ten minutes later to tie the game at one.
But four unanswered goals by Ben U put the game and season out of reach for Simpson.
Simpson has appeared in the opening round three of the last four years. Unfortunately with the loss, Simpson has now dropped its last three games in the opening round of postseason play.
The Red Hawks will be saying farewell to four seniors;
Sol Caceres,
Taylor Barker,
Ashley Horan, and
Hailey Tripp.
Simpson is set to return a large junior class as they look to make another strong playoff push next season.
