REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team dropped its first game of the three-day home stand against Benedictine University, 3-0.

Ben U jumped out to the early lead as they took set one in convincing fashion 25-11. A couple of long Ben U rallies proved to be the difference-maker in set one.Â
Set two followed the momentum of Ben U as they held total control in a 25-15 victory to go up two sets to none.Â
However, the Red Hawks would not go down without a fight as they started set three with a 5-0 run. But Ben U fought back and took the lead on an 8-0 run.Â
Simpson would go pound for pound with Ben U as they tied things back up at 20 with two key kills by
Julia Zamfir.Â
But the Redhawks from Mesa closed the door on a 5-1 Ben U run to seal the game.Â
Tiara Manns led the team with eight kills to go along with seven digs on the night.Â
Setter
Kayla Somontan registered 15 assists and nine digs.Â
Madison Kammuller led the team on defense with 18 digs.Â
With the loss, Simpson falls to eighth place in the Cal Pac standings. They are currently 1.5 games behind Providence Christian for the sixth and final playoff spot.Â
The Red Hawks will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Embry-Riddle at 6 PM.Â
