REDDING, Calif. - The men's soccer team battled the University of Saint Katherine to a 1-1 tie this afternoon.

In an eventful homecoming weekend, the boys looked to solidify it's playoff chances with a key matchup against the seventh-seeded Firebirds. 

Simpson outshot the firebirds in the first half 4-2. As a result the Red Hawks jumped on the board first when David Vasquez scored his first goal of the year in the 24th minute.

Saint Katherine scored the equalizing goal in the 66th minute of play to even the score at one. 

Both teams made valiant pushes to score the game-winner but each team was unable to find the back of the net. 

Goalie Daniel Morales had a nice game as he registered eight saves on the day. 

With the tie, Simpson now shares the fifth spot with Park-Gilbert.

The Red Hawks will play its season finale and commemorate its senior ceremonies this weekend against UC Merced at 2:30 PM.
