Softball Sweeps Park

REDDING, Calif. - This past weekend, the Simpson Softball Team hosted Park University Gilbert, where the Red Hawks swept the four game series.

In Game one of the series, the Red Hawks took the lead in inning one, and kept it all game. To start the series the Red Hawks would beat the Buccaneers 8-5. The Lady Red Hawks not only out-hit the Buccaneers, but Sunshine Wehunt would do some damage from in the circle as well, finishing with seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Game two would not be as high of a scoring game, and Simpson would hold Park to only one run all game, for a final score of 2-1. Park would have a difficult time hitting off Kylee Potes and she would end up finishing with 11 strikeouts.

Neither team scored throughout most the game, up until Park scored one in the fifth inning. However, Simpson would answer back with a solo homerun from Ashley Miller. In the last inning, SU's Brooke Blades would hit a walk-off double, scoring Meridian Enriquez to end the game.

On Sunday, during Game three of the weekend, the score would be tied at zero for the first three innings. Then in inning four, Brooke Blades would hit a three-run homer to give SU the lead. Simpson would only allow Park to score one in the very last inning for a final score of 3-1.

During the final game of the series, SU would actually trail Park for the first time all weekend. Coming into the final inning of the game, Simpson was down 3-1, until Junior Akela Holder, hit a two run homer to tie up the game. Alexis Zamora would hit in Madison Greco and the Red Hawks would pull off the win and the four game sweep against the Buccaneers.

Simpson Softball will be in Santee, California playing San Diego Christian College Thursday, April 7th, and Saint Katherine College April 8th and 9th.
