REDDING, Calif. - Simpson U baseball dominates in a four-game sweep of Bushnell University, 15-13, 11-3, 12-3, and 10-5.
The Red Hawks scored in the double digits in each of the four games and held the Beacons under six runs in all but one game.
Game one was the closest of the series, but the Red Hawks 14 hits were able to prevail behind three RBI performances from
Logan Gomes and
Kainalu Lazaro.
In game two, SU starter,
Ethan Buttars was magnificent, going eight strong innings, allowing just two hits, one earned run, and nine strikeouts, while also recording the victory.
Shane Ogata was the big bat for SU recording two hits, two walks, two runs, and four RBIs.
The Red Hawks' hot bats continued in game three as it was a four-run fifth inning that pushed the game out of reach. Simpson's four pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts in the nine innings.
Connor Wytko and
Cole Fowler each drove in three runs in the outstanding offensive performance for SU.
Simpson completed the sweep in game four after coming from behind in the 7th inning to score five runs to take the lead.
Shane Ogata's double tied the game as two runners came to cross home plate and then Edwards and Zurita each singled home a run to give Simpson the lead.
Throughout the weekend, Simpson was able to get timely hits that resulted in a combined 48 runs in the series, while only allowing 24.Â
The Red Hawks will look build off their momentum as they head to Atherton to face Menlo College in a four-game series that begins on Friday.
