Women's Basketball Gets Win Over PUC

REDDING, Calif. - The Women's Basketball Team earned its second conference win on Thursday night, beating Pacific Union College with a final score of 59-37.

The Red Hawks a slow start to the game, not getting their first points until a little over five minutes into the first quarter. At the end of the first 10 minutes, SU found themselves down 13-6.

However, Simpson won the three remaining quarters. Going into halftime the Red Hawks lead, 24-22.

Coming out of the break, Simpson went on a nine point scoring run, not allowing Pacific Union to get a shot in for the first five minutes of the second half.

The Red Hawks saw their largest lead come with just over three and a half left in the game where they lead the the Pioneers by 22.

Sandra Berrocal lead SU with 14 points and three steals. Ariadna Rubio and Tymiko Patterson each recorded nine points. Rubio had three steals and Patterson had one.

Simpson will hit the road to play Cal Maritime on Saturday at 5:30 PM.
