LINDA, Calif. - Simpson U track and field kicked off the season this Saturday with the Yuba Invite.

Simpson's Caitlin Bennett took first place in the women's discuss with a 34.84 meter throw and Nichole Martinez notched a personal record of 27.07 meters finishing in second place as the Red Hawks took the top two slots in the event. Bennett also finished first in the women's shot put with a 11.55 meter throw.

In the women's 100 meter sprint, Geordan Thurston crossed the finish line first with a 12.67 second run which was close to a PR and Bailey Todd was close behind at 14.48 seconds.

Caroline Forseth dominated in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37.1, a full two seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Distance runner, Hope Dodgen recorded a 3rd place finish in the 1500 meter run with a 5:24 time.

Timothy Isenberg took home 1st place in the men's 1500 meter race finishing a full three seconds ahead of second place and taking home a PR equivalent.

In the men's 110 meter hurdles, Shaquille Williams finished with the bronze just a half second off of 2nd place.

In the men's triple jump, Theodore Corontzos took him second place .01 meter away from tying for first place in another impressive performance for the Red Hawks.

In just the first meet of the season, multiple Red Hawks had dominating performances which bodes well for the rest of the season for Simpson Track and Field.

SU's next meet is March 11th in Modesto, CA where the Red Hawks will look to continue their impressive start to the season.
