REDDING, Calif. - Earlier today, the Cal Pac Conference office announced this seasons all conference awards.
Todd Franklin was named Cal Pac Coach of the Year in a process of nominating and voting by coaches around the conference.
This is Franklin's first time winning the award and just the second time a Simpson men's basketball coach has ever won the conference nod.
Coach Franklin helped lead Simpson to its best conference record since 2014 at 10-3 in the Cal Pac and 15-7 overall. The Red Hawks also are receiving first round bye in the conference tournament as the second seed and will automatically advance to the conference semis on Monday.
Franklin has been the Simpson men's basketball head coach since 2017, where he inherited a five-win team and more than doubled the win total of the previous year and has continued to build the program into a successful one qualifying for the conference tournament every year since he took over.
The Red Hawks look to make more headlines next week in the conference tournament as they will face the winner of Antelope Valley and Benedictine-Mesa on the Cal Pac semifinals on Monday at 7:30 PM in Lancaster, CA.
