REDDING, Calif. - Two men's basketball players received conference honors for the 2021-22 season. 

Gary Mims, first-year Simpson player and team leader, earned three awards for his outstanding season.

Mims has been named Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All Conference. 

For the Red Hawks this season, the junior forward had 53 3-pointers, average 17 points per game and had 22 steals and including eight double-doubles on the season.

Mims is only the second player for Simpson to receive the title of player of the year, the first since the 2014-15 season. 

The other Red Hawk to be recognized is senior JT Branch.

Branch joined Mims as First-Team All Conference and as a member of the All-Defensive team.

The Antioch native had 8 blocks, 17 steals, 92 rebounds and averaged 13.3 points per game.

Both players were unanimously voted as All-Conference First Team members proving their dominance in this year's conference play

Both players had fantastic seasons, earning them the right to these titles. The Red Hawks fight for more accolades isn't done as they will play in the conference tournament on Monday playing the winner of Antelope Valley and BenU at 7:30 PM in Lancaster, CA
