Softball Splits The Weekend With Menlo

REDDING, Calif. - Softball hosted Menlo this past weekend for a Saturday and Sunday doubleheader, each team taking two wins.

On Saturday, Simpson only managed to put up three runs between the two games, compared to Menlo's 23 runs. The Red Hawks struggled to keep up with Menlo's bats as the Oaks scored in four of the six innings in both game on Saturday. SU fell in the first game, 10-1 and in the second, 13-2.

Sunday the Red Hawks flipped a switch. SU struck first in the first game on Sunday, scoring three more times after that before allowing MC to put one run on the board. Starting pitcher for the Red Hawks, Kylee Potes, only allowed two hits and two runs in Sunday's game one. Simpson took its first win of the weekend with a final score of 6-2.

In game two on Sunday, Simpson got the scoring going again, putting up the first run in the bottom of the first inning. Menlo fought its way back to come within three, but Simpson kept them at bay, taking the win with a final of 9-6.

Simpson will hit the road this weekend to face Hope International, William Jessup and Menlo.
