Simpson University announced today in a press conference that the university has hired its first-ever football coach, Shawn Daniel.
Simpson U President, Dr. Hall made the announcement to the local media and the Simpson community and campus to smiles and applause. After combing through over 100 applicants and engaging in over two dozen screenings and multiple on-campus interviews, Simpson University made the decision to hire Daniel.
Coach Daniel comes to Simpson University with 15 years of collegiate coaching experience including six different colleges, most recently as the Offensive Coordinator at Sterling College, where he was instrumental in building offensive gameplans and recruiting for the Warriors.
Prior to that, Daniel was the Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Missouri Valley College, Lyon College, and Midland University.
Daniel graduated from Trinity Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2011.
Simpson announced that football would become the university's 20th collegiate sport earlier this year beginning with a scrimmage season in 2023 followed by a full competitive season in 2024.
The addition of football is part of the university's plan to continue enrollment growth as Simpson has increased enrollment by 10 percent in the past five years.
