ROCKLIN, Calif. - Simpson U women's basketball headed to Rocklin to face to top GSAC opponents before continuing conference play next week.
The Red Hawks nearly stole the first game from the tournament hosts, but Jessup was able to prevail, 61-59.
Livi Lindsey led SU with 16 points and nine rebounds with
Nikki Thompson and
Tymiko Patterson chipping in a combined 22 points. Jessup finished the fourth quarter 6-10 from the field to SU's 3-13 which ended up being the difference-maker.
in game two of the classic, the Red Hawks faced undefeated Vanguard in a defensive battle that the Lions pulled out after a strong 1st and 4th quarter, 50-37.
Simpson faced shooting woes all game long finishing at a 30 percent clip for the game, an off-shooting performance for the Red Hawks. Celina Tress and Anna Marshall both finished in double figures for SU.Â
Despite the two losses, the Red Hawks should be optimistic considering they took a top GSAC opponent to the wire, and dropped a contest to an undefeated Vanguard on an uncharacteristic shooting performance.
Simpson will return to conference play this week against the Arizona trio beginning with Park-Gilbert on Thursday, December 1st with tip-off set for 5:30 pm in the Grant Center.
