PASADENA & IRVINE, Calif. - On Friday, Sept. 30th, The Simpson Women's Soccer began their So-Cal trip very successfully and shut out Providence Christian 6-0. The Lady Red Hawks would go onto play Westcliff Sunday, Oct. 2nd, and would just fall 1-3.
Against the Sea Beggars, the Red Hawks would come out with a great intensity, and would score two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, the first goal by
Hannah Gonzales and the second by
Kylie Hokanson. Gonzales would finish the day scoring three out of six of her team's goals and
Iris Van Dalfsen would assist her in one of them. Serena Rodriquez and
Haylee Ward would also add to the scoreboard for the Red Hawks, to lead to their 6-0 dub against the Sea Beggars.
SU Women's Soccer would not only have an impressive offensive game, but shined defensively as well. Simpson would only allow Providence to shoot twice all game, one in each half and SU goalie
Brianna Whitehurst would have one save on the day.
On Sunday afternoon against Westcliff, Simpson Women's Soccer would attack first making the score 1-0 all the way until 35 minutes in the first half when Westcliff would answer back. Westcliff would simply get off more shots than Simpson which would lead to their defeat.
The women's soccer team hopes to move up in the conference rankings as they prepare to face University of Antelope Valley this Saturday, October 8th at 5 PM.
