LANCASTER, Calif. - Simpson University baseball recorded the programs first Cal Pac Conference tournament win in history when the Red Hawks knocked off Providence Christian, 10-9 in extra innings.
Nate Minami shined for the Red Hawks in the tournament opener tallying four hits in five at bats, including two triples and a double and crossing home plate five times. Simpson starting pitcher, Jackson Bennet went six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs in the quality start.
After winning their first game of the tournament, Simpson University advanced to face top-seeded University of Antelope Valley, where the Red Hawks fell 17-1.
SU is still alive in the double elimination tournament and will have to win to stay alive the rest of the tournament. The Red Hawks face Benedictine-Mesa at 2:30 today in Lancaster.
