Collins Turns In Impressive Performance in Red Hawks' Loss

Box Score MERCED, Calif. -

Simpson University women's volleyball falls to UC Merced in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-13.

Ashley Collins recorded a team-high kills 11 kills out of Simpson's total 27 kills for the three-set match. Kendall Welpott and Lily Johnson combined for 13 kills for SU and Emily Hansen recorded 22 assists for the match.

The Bobcats had two players finish with double-digit kills combining for 25, nearly more than the entire Red Hawks team.

Simpson went toe-to-toe with the Bobcats the first two sets, a few mistakes away from getting wins in those opening sets, but UC Merced consistency was the difference-maker.

SU will continue conference play on Friday when they face the University of Saint Katherine.
