Men's Basketball Signs Texan Standout Seth Adams

REDDING, Calif. - .Simpson University head men's basketball coach, Todd Franklin announced today that the Red Hawks have signed Texas standout Seth Adams.

Adams, son of former Harlem Globetrotter and NCAA All-American Melvin Adams, has basketball in his blood and his addition to the program puts this year's recruiting class off to an incredible start.

Seth Adams went to Klein Cain High School in Houston, Texas, and will make the journey West with the goal in place of winning a conference championship in the coming years.

"Seth was a no-brainer as he checks all the boxes for us," Todd Franklin says, "He is a great young man not ashamed of his faith and values but also is a ferocious competitor on the floor and in the classroom."

"I just like Todd as a coach, he seems very driven and I feel like he will take my game to another level," Adams says, "I just thought that going to Simpson would be the best way to continue my goals playing basketball."

Seth is not only a dedicated player on the court, but he takes his schooling seriously and is another reason why Coach Franklin was intrigued.

"His 4.6 GPA is a testament to his focus and work ethic that I will not have to worry if he is going to make grades each semester," Franklin says.

Adams played primarily shooting guard in high school and will come to Simpson as a combo guard with the ability to attack the lane and hit the outside shot that gives Simpson versatility in its lineups in 2021. The Texan guard has great vision on the court in creating open shots for teammates and rebounds extremely well compared to most guards.

"When I was looking at choices I had of schools so I wanted to go to a school where they are a big believer in God and knowing that its a whole community of people who believes in the word of God," Adam says. "So I feel like Simpson is a great school and when I heard it was a Christian school that really piqued my interest because that is what I had been looking for."

Seth's father Melvin has extensive experience as a basketball player as an NCAA All-American and also in playing for the famous Harlem Globetrotters, but now is a communicator and entertainer who was spoken to over 3,000,000 youth through camps and assemblies.

Seth admires his father's path and wants to use it as guidance towards success at Simpson. "Him being 5'8, you wouldn't expect him to be a professional basketball player even to play at the college level," Adams says, "I just admire his hard work and all the adversity he had to go through so I feel like he is a great example for me playing and college and looking to be a professional."

Adams is one of the first signings announced for the 2021-22 season as the Red Hawks focus their efforts on a conference championship following the strange COVID-19 plagued season.
