SANTA BARBARA, CA -
Simpson men's basketball traveled to Southern California for a two-day doubleheader with one of the GSAC's best clubs, Westmont College.
The Red Hawks were coming off a historic win as they took down ranked College of Idaho for the first time in program history. Simpson looked to continue its momentum heading into the two-game series with the Warriors.
Westmont came out of the gate red-hot from behind the arc hitting 13 of 17 shots from deep in the first half. Offensively, SU was getting good shots but was unable to keep up with the Warriors torrid shooting pace.
The Red Hawks held their ground in the second half as the Warriors shooting numbers decreased, but they still knocked down 19 three-pointers for the game to Simpson's eight. After a cold-shooting start, Simpson outscored the Warriors in the second half by one as Head Coach,
Todd Franklin made adjustments to shut down their shooters.
SU's second half adjustments combined with the Warriors cooling off shooting the basketball provided for a competitive second half that will more than likely continue into game two of the doubleheader on Saturday night.
Tip-off is set for 4 pm as the Red Hawks look for vengeance against Westmont College.
